What makes BroadRiver Data Center Solutions different?
BroadRiver’s unique approach to data center solutions allows us to match the exact needs of your business with the appropriate level of service. As your business requirements change, you can adjust the level of service up or down without having to change service providers. Our offering gives you access to data center solutions in facilities that cover all four Tier classifications as well as access to several diverse levels of service within each facility for a level of customization that is unmatched in the industry. Most people think that if you have seen one data center, you have seen them all, but in reality, it’s their uptime, performance, and what you can’t see behind the curtain that makes them different.
Why pay for more than you require or less than you actually need? For example, a business that hosts their accounting package that is accessed by their employees from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday won’t be affected by the afterhours maintenance window of a tier I or tier II data center while a company that hosts an ecommerce site that is accessed by customers making purchases 24x7x365 from around the world may require the near 100% availability that a tier III or IV data center can provide. Many companies may actually need a combination of these different classes of service to meet the specific needs of their various business applications and have no choice but to use multiple vendors or to overspend on a higher level of service to cover the needs of all of their applications collectively. With BroadRiver, we will analyze each of your applications independently to identify the appropriate hosting solution to match. Choose a service provider that will be a long term partner who will always listen to your individual needs and be able to customize the right solutions to fit.
Comparison of BroadRiver’s data center offerings and their associated TIER standards
BroadRiver’s Tier I Data Center I was built in 1999 on the second floor of the company owned 1000 Hemphill Ave office building in Midtown Atlanta. It is a brick structure with a wood frame that houses 30 racks of computer equipment in 1000 square feet of raised floor space. Rack space is sold only in per rack unit increments with multiple customers housed in each rack and access to equipment is by escort only. This data center was designed to provide a much improved environment over that of an ordinary office setting and includes: a dedicated space for IT systems, a UPS to filter power spikes, sags, and momentary outages, dedicated cooling equipment not shut down at the end of normal office hours, a gas based fire suppression system to eliminate water sprinklers and an engine generator to protect IT functions from extended power outages. It has non-redundant capacity components and a single, non-redundant distribution path serving the computer equipment. The average annual impact of maintenance and unplanned outages in this data center results in 99.67 percent availability. BroadRiver’s Tier II Data Center II was constructed in 2003 as a 1500 square foot steel, concrete, and brick addition to the back of the existing building. It houses 40 fully enclosed racks that are sold in quarter, half and full rack increments. Customers have access to their equipment in this facility 24x7x365 through unescorted key fob and biometric security controlled entry. This data center was designed with redundant critical power and cooling capacity components to provide an increased margin of safety against IT process disruptions due to site infrastructure equipment failures. With redundant components, a malfunction or normal maintenance will only result in loss of a capacity component. The average annual impact of maintenance and unplanned outages in this data center results in 99.75 percent availability. BroadRiver’s Tier III Data Center III is a 15,000 square foot facility that was constructed in 2007 approximately one mile from our other two facilities in Atlanta. The building sits on solid granite with 18 inch thick concrete floors, steel frame and concrete block walls with a brick outlay and an insulated membrane roof. It features over 200 fully enclosed racks that are sold in half and full rack increments. This data center was designed with redundant capacity components and multiple independent distribution paths serving the computer equipment. This means that critical systems can be taken offline for scheduled maintenance without impact to the IT environment. The average annual impact of maintenance and unplanned outages in this data center results in 99.98 percent availability. BroadRiver’s Tier IV Data Center offering is provided through strategic partnerships with Level(3) in Atlanta Georgia and Switch SuperNAP NV-7 in Las Vegas Nevada. These partner facilities were selected to meet the stringent needs of our larger clients who require the highest levels of physical security and fault tolerant site infrastructure. They feature multiple, independent, physically isolated systems that provide redundant capacity components and multiple, independent, diverse active distribution paths simultaneously serving the computer equipment so that no single maintenance or outage event will impact the computer equipment. The average annual impact of maintenance and unplanned outages in these data centers results in 99.99 percent availability.
